Why we chose this stone

Small stones don't often get to carry big colour, but this 0.38ct emerald cut manages it. At C6, the tone tips well past honey into proper cognac — dark, warm, almost amber when it catches the light. What's notable here is that the emerald cut still does its job at this size: the long step-cut facets lay the colour out in clean, even bands rather than breaking it up, so even at under half a carat, the stone reads with real depth rather than looking washed out. It's the kind of colour that usually needs size to make an impression, and this one manages without it. Like every Argyle stone, it comes from the East Kimberley region of Western Australia — ground that won't be mined again.

Smaller cognac-toned diamonds like this tend to get chosen for a reason: as accent stones with genuine presence, in a pair, or as a first, more accessible way into owning something from a mine that no longer exists. The colour does the talking regardless of carat.
