Why we chose this stone

A C5 sits at an interesting point on the champagne scale — deep enough to read as genuinely golden, not yet into the darker cognac tones further up the chart. This 0.50ct emerald cut wears that colour the way the cut was built to: in long, uninterrupted planes rather than scattered flashes. Step cuts don't hide anything, and they don't need to here — the diamond's warm, honeyed hue is the whole point, laid out cleanly across each facet like light through amber glass. It comes from the same ground every Argyle stone does, the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, mined before the Argyle pipe closed for good and took its particular colour palette with it.

There's a quiet confidence to an emerald cut that other shapes don't quite manage — less about sparkle, more about presence. In a C5 champagne, that translates into a stone that looks considered rather than decorative, the kind of diamond someone chooses because they already know exactly what they want. Given the mine's closure, stones with this colour and cut combination aren't something you'll find indefinitely.
