Why we chose this stone

A pear cut asks a diamond to do two things at once — hold a brilliant-style facet pattern at one end and taper to a single point at the other — and a C4 champagne colour handles that combination particularly well. At 0.61ct, this stone has the size to let that warm, golden tone settle properly into the shoulders of the shape while still catching plenty of light through the point. The teardrop silhouette also does something colour-forward diamonds don't always get credit for: it elongates the finger and gives the stone a sense of movement that a symmetrical cut can't quite match. Every stone at this colour grade traces back to the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, where the Argyle mine produced these diamonds until its closure ended that supply permanently.

Pear-shaped coloured diamonds tend to suit people who want a stone with a clear point of view — not quite as traditional as a round or cushion, not as sharply geometric as an emerald or marquise. At 0.61ct with a solid C4 tone, this one has enough presence to work as a genuine centre stone, whether set as a solitaire or with a halo to frame the point.
