Why we chose this stone

At C6, colour is unmistakably rich — a deep, cognac-leaning tone one step shy of the darkest grade the Argyle scale offers. This 0.74ct round brilliant carries that depth confidently despite its more modest carat weight, proof that strong colour doesn't require a large stone to make an impact. The brilliant cut's facet pattern keeps the tone in constant motion, alternating dark amber flashes with brighter glints as the stone turns, so the colour never reads as flat or one-note. Deep grades like this were always harder to come by than the lighter end of the scale, since intensely coloured rough was the rarer outcome from Argyle's mining. It comes from the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, where the mine operated until its closure ended production of these diamonds for good.
