Why we chose this stone
Sitting just under a full carat, this cushion cut carries a C5 grade with real conviction — deep enough to read as genuinely rich gold, without tipping into the darker cognac tones further up the scale. The cushion's rounded corners and mixed facet pattern break that colour into shifting pockets of light rather than one flat tone, giving the stone a lively, glowing quality that suits this depth of colour particularly well. At 0.92ct, there's ample surface for that movement to play out, letting the C5 grade show clearly and consistently across the stone. It comes from the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, the source of every Argyle diamond mined before the pipe's closure ended that supply permanently.
Just shy of a full carat, this is a stone with genuine substance, and its C5 grade gives it a depth of colour that holds its own as a centre stone without needing extra embellishment. It's a combination — solid size, confidently deep colour — that's becoming harder to find now that the source has closed for good.
