Why we chose this stone

A full carat is a milestone in itself, and pairing one with a C6 grade — deep, proper cognac colour — makes this round brilliant a genuine standout. The brilliant cut's facet pattern was designed to maximise light return, and at this size, that means the stone's rich tone doesn't sit still: it shifts and flashes as the diamond moves, alternating between darker pools of colour and brighter glints depending on the angle. Cognac-toned stones this size were never abundant even during Argyle's operating years, since darker colour and larger rough are two things that don't often coincide in nature. It comes from the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, the source of every Argyle diamond mined before the pipe's closure ended that supply permanently.

A one carat C6 round brilliant sits toward the rarer end of what the Argyle mine ever produced, and with the mine now closed, stones matching this combination of size and colour depth won't be replaced. It's built to be the obvious focal point of a ring — a diamond that carries both scale and a genuinely deep, storied colour.
