This 1.02ct round brilliant carries a deep, chocolate-cognac tone that borders on opaque in low light and comes alive with warm amber flashes under direct light, thanks to the brilliant cut's dense facet pattern working the colour from every angle. Stones this dark rarely occurred at this size even when the mine was still in production; darker rough and larger rough were two qualities that didn't often turn up together. It comes from the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, the source of every Argyle diamond mined before the pipe's closure ended this colour range for good.
