Why we chose this stone

A stone over two carats is already exceptional within the Argyle range, and pairing that size with a C5 grade — a deep, confidently golden colour — makes this emerald cut something rarely seen even at the height of the mine's production. The step-cut facets do exactly what they were designed for here: laying the colour out in broad, uninterrupted planes rather than scattering it, so the full richness of the C5 tone reads clearly across the stone's face. It's a combination of scale and saturation that puts real weight behind the word "rare" — most Argyle stones this large simply weren't found in this depth of colour. It comes from the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, mined before the pipe's closure ended this supply permanently.

At just over two carats, this is unmistakably a centrepiece stone, one built to anchor a significant ring or standalone setting without competition. With Argyle production finished for good, a stone of this size, cut, and colour grade is very unlikely to be matched again — this is close to as good as it gets from a mine that no longer exists.
