Old Mine Cuts were shaped for candlelight, not laser precision — and this 1.55 carat example carries that heritage beautifully, with a noticeably generous spread for its weight. Where many modern cuts are engineered deep to maximise carat weight on paper, this stone's proportions favour visible face-up size, meaning it wears larger than the number on the certificate suggests.
Hand-cut at least 80 years ago and rescued from an antique setting, this diamond was sourced through Antwerp, long the epicentre of the world's diamond trade. Its M/N colour grade brings a warm, faintly golden tone that's characteristic of the era it was cut in, when icy-white colour wasn't the priority it is in modern grading — and its VS2 clarity keeps it clean and bright despite that warmth.
