Some diamonds are cut by machines. This one was cut by hand, by a craftsman working in an era before precision meant computer-guided lasers — and it shows in every facet.
This is a genuine antique old mine cushion cut diamond, at least 80 years old, rescued from estate jewellery sourced in Antwerp. The old mine cut is a direct ancestor of the modern round brilliant, but with a softer, more romantic silhouette — a high crown, a small table, and larger facets that catch candlelight and lamplight in a way contemporary cuts were never designed to do. Cushion-shaped with gently rounded corners, it carries the warmth and individuality that only comes from being shaped entirely by a human hand.
Diamonds like this one are becoming genuinely difficult to find. Each old mine cut is unique — no two are cut quite the same, and none can be replicated today. This stone has already lived a full history before it ever reaches you, and it's ready to begin its next chapter, whether reset into a new setting or treasured as a piece of wearable history in its own right.
