Before precision cutting and computer-guided lasers, diamonds were shaped entirely by eye and by hand — a slower, more painstaking process that gave each stone its own quiet individuality. The old mine cut carries a high crown, a small table, and generous, open facets that catch light in a soft, warm glow rather than the sharp fire of a modern brilliant.
