Why we chose this stone
At over one and a half carats, this round brilliant carries its C4 — Medium Champagne — grade with real conviction. It's the tone most people picture first when they hear "champagne diamond": a confident, unmistakable gold, warm without tipping into the deeper cognac shades further up the scale. The brilliant cut's dense facet pattern gives that colour plenty of surface to move across, breaking it into shifting flashes of light and colour rather than one settled tone, so a stone this large stays lively and bright rather than dense. It comes from the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, mined before the Argyle pipe's closure ended that supply permanently.
A 1.51ct round brilliant in this classic Medium Champagne grade is a true centrepiece stone — substantial enough to anchor any setting on its own, with the archetypal Argyle colour most buyers have in mind when they start looking. With the mine now closed, this particular combination of size and colour is only becoming harder to find.
